The tradition of Yoga dates back 5000 years, making it the most ancient form of spiritual training. It has been practiced continuously in the far east since the birth of civilization.
In the west, Yoga is used as means of reducing stresses and anxiety, a means of shaping the body, and acquiring physical fitness and flexibility. Although Yoga does all of this, it is in fact a spiritual discipline of which the 'exercises' are only one part, its' ultimate goal being more profound.
are designed to increase flexibility, body strength and awareness, and promote stability of mind and body . The emphasis is not on the need to achieve the perfect posture, but rather on learning to focus on the process.
"Yoga is the control of the whirls of the mind "(citta)
